City of Durham’s Neighborhood Improvement Services Department - Neighbor Spotlight
The goal of The Health eCommunity is to educate the local community in matters regarding the use of technology in achieving, promoting, and maintaining optimal health. Use of technology includes smart phones, websites, social media, mobile apps, blood pressure cuffs, scales, and wearables such as activity trackers. It also includes the use of any device used to measure and/or monitor health. Use of technology in the home gives providers access to data they would not ordinarily have. The Health eCommunity is funded in part by the City of Durham Neighborhood Matching Grants.
Our immediate focus is physical activity and healthy eating.
Maintaining a healthy weight isn't easy, but don't give up. Risk factors such as physical inactivity and obesity contribute to chronic diseases. Reduce your risk factors and improve your quality of life by getting active.
It's our goal at the Health eCommunity to improve lives. Information is empowering. Technology touches nearly every aspect of our lives. We want to use information and technology to improve our health individually and collectively.
