Health Informatics lies at the intersection of Clinical Informatics and Public Health Informatics.  Clinical Informatics is concerned with patients, whereas the focus of Public Health Informatics is populations and society.  

HIT

Information technology plays a large role in the delivery of health care. Those who don't take advantage of computer technology as it pertains to their health will not enjoy the advantages technology brings to bear.

HIE

Electronic health information exchange (HIE) allows doctors, nurses, pharmacists, other health care providers and patients to appropriately access and securely share a patient’s vital medical information electronically—improving the speed, quality, safety and cost of patient care.
